Garden and Landscape design, The Process
The process of a great Landscape design involves many steps, to try and make it easy for you we have detailed them all below so that you know what to expect and at what stage in the process they occur. The main areas are:
We are always available to speak to you about the progress of your new garden design and at any stage you can contact us by phone or email. To talk to us now about our landscape design process please call us or drop us an email.
Your initial visit
After your first contact with us the garden and landscape design process begins with an initial visit. Your specific requirements are discussed and understood, this meeting is free and typically will only take an hour of your time. The benefit of spending this time with us is that we can then give you a good idea of the rough cost involved and also an approximate timescale for the work required.
It may be that you are happy with the structure of your garden so a landscape design is not required but perhaps some help with areas of tired or inappropriate planting will suit you. We can help plant and implement a total redesign, or advise on supplementary planting for all year interest.
If you want to proceed we will arrange a full consultancy visit
During this consultancy visit we will complete a very detailed questionnaire about your garden, which will help us to take on board all your comments and design the garden that will really suit you. At all times we will bear in mind that it is your garden, although we may have different ideas to help you create solutions to a problem.
A Site Survey, to get it right first time
A site survey will then be carried out, if necessary, for the landscaping, which involves measurements of the house and garden, to include sketches, levels, soil samples, aspects, views and photographs as this is a really important aspect for your landscape design.

Your Garden Layout Plan
This, together with the visits will form the basis of your layout plan. A good landscape design will combine practicalities, function and aesthetics together with your own personal preferences. The plan will give as much detail as you need, with sketches and photographs to visualise your new garden. CAD is usually used to draw up plans, for the sake of speed, but hand drawn plans can also be arranged it you want. There is no charge for the garden design until you are 100% satisfied that we have created the right design for you. We are very confident that we can create good designs and accept no payment until clients are completely happy with the design.

We'll arrange contractors on your behalf, making life easy for you
We work with a number of preferred contractors and can produce written specification and construction drawings. Not all projects require this much detail and we are happy to tailor each new design to suit the client and their budget. Unlike many 'design and build' companies we are not restricted to a limited range of paving and plant nursery suppliers but can source the most appropriate materials wherever they be. We will gather the most appropriate craftsmen for the construction phase keeping in mind that choosing the most appropriate landscapers is an important ingredient to a cost-effective garden project.

Your Planting Plan, bringing it all together
Once construction of your garden is underway a detailed planting plan is drawn up. This takes into consideration the aspect and growing conditions of your garden and species are chosen accordingly. Colour and texture feature highly and can be tailored to suit individual tastes.
